I have been a member of Northern Sun for 2 1/2 years, and together with my partner Alex built our home in the fall of 2011. I love being on our peaceful land and listening to the sound of the birds, gardening, preserving and fermenting foods, and harvesting plants from the forests and fields to make natural remedies while developing my skills as an herbalist. I am a Direct Support Worker for people with different-abilities at a day program in the near town of Steinbach. I am also a Doula who works to support mothers in birthing their babies into the world in a gentle and loving way.

I have been a member for 2 1/2 years, and moved to Northern Sun because I wanted to live rurally, and to do so in community. I appreciate the balance here between my own needs for space and community life. I am a builder and love working with wood, and enjoy the freedom and space to do so here. I am building a workshop on our site to develop my woodworking business on the farm.

I became a member in 2008. I had lived on a farm for 15 years raising 4 children and desired to return again to a peaceful and simple environment. This is a style of life which is rare. I embrace, treasure, and nurture it so that it becomes a part of me I can hold for my great grandchildren and others.

I have lived at Northern Sun for nineteen years. I am drawn here because of the possibility it offers for the freedom to be more independent, and to have less need for 'stuff'.
I love to play guitar and music, and to follow my yoga practice. I appreciate the satisfaction of growing my own food and putting some of it away for the winter months. I also enjoy all kinds of carpentry and have extensive experience in renovations.

I helped Northern Sun Farm become a cooperative in 1984. As a single mother I was looking for an inclusive process of people working together democratically toward more sustainable living. My love of the land and good food came from my grandparents who ran a mixed farm, but had to deal with isolation. I thought that working cooperatively could give members both physical community and support for personal growth. The support that I have enjoyed here has been the foundation for my work as an organic educator and inspector across the continent.

I have lived at Northern Sun Farm for 24 years. I wanted to live in the country because I love the sounds, smells, wildlife and quiet of country living. I was at home fulltime for 15 years raising children, gardening, cooking and building but I am now working in the outside community as a RN. I like living simply in a small house. I never felt the need to accumulate a lot of stuff so did not want to spend my life doing that.
